1. Introduction

Hazrat Eisa ibne Maryam (Jesus Christ) is one of the most revered Prophet for Muslims and Christians. Followers of both religions are awaiting his miraculous second coming for the salvation of this world. During the last 1400 years, several people have claimed to be the Promised Messiah. Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, the founder of Ahmadiyya Movement, is one of this century's self-proclaimed Messiahs.

Born in 1840, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad lived for 68 years and during his lifetime claimed to be the Promised Messiah, Imam Mahdi, Prophet, Lord Krishna (the awaited Hindu Divine), Jai Singh Bahadur (Sikh Divine) and second advent of Holy Prophet Mohammed saaw - all in one. Today he has thousands of followers scattered all over the world, who accept him as their Prophet, the Promised Messiah, and the awaited Mahdi.

Mirza Ghulam and his followers had written a lot about Jesus Christ, his life and his death. During the early phase of his life, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani praised Eisa ibne Maryam and claimed to have qualities like him which, according to his earlier claims, make him 'Maseel Maseeh' (Replica of Maseeh). But after a few months he upgraded himself and assumed the title of Promised Messiah. He started claiming to be Jesus son of Mary, who had been promised in the traditions of Holy Prophet Mohammed SAAW that he will come at the end. However, it was an uphill task for him to prove this claim. In his desperation, he made him survive the crucifixion (thus denying that established Islamic doctrine of Jesus being elevated to Heavens with his earthly body), made him fled from Palestine to Kashmir. Here according to Mirza Ghulam, Jesus died at the age of 140. Once he killed the Jesus and buried him in Kashmir in the grave of a certain Aazyusuf, he thought the way was clear to assume the role and title of Promised Messiah.

Thus he claimed that since he has same qualities as Jesus, he has been chosen to be the Promised Messiah. How far his arguments are convincing, it is for the reader to decide.

In the following sections we are going to examine his various claims, his reasons for assuming the role of Promised Messiah and last but not the least, what was his opinion about the man of whom he claims to be a copy - EISA ibne MARYAM, the MESSIAH.

The character assassination of Hazrat Eisa ibne Maryam AS by the founder of Ahmadiyya Movement is most deplorable and is quite unbecoming for a person who claims to be divinely ordained Head of a religious movement. Readers will agree that no other person in the history has ever blasphemed Jesus Christ in such a vulgar manner.

2. The Messiah & Holy Prophet's Prophecy

Holy Prophet Mohammad SAAW said:

"By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, surely (Eisa) Ibne Maryam will soon descend amongst you as a Just Ruler; Thus he will Break the Cross, Kill the Swine and Prohibit the War." (Sahih Bukhari, Book of Prophets, No 668)

PS: Prophet has sworn upon Allah the coming of Ibne Maryam.

"Allah will send Maseeh ibne Maryam. Thus he will descend near the White Eastern Minaret of Damascus, clad in two yellow sheets, leaning on the shoulders of two angels." (Sahih Muslim 8:192-193)

Thus it is evident from above traditions of Holy Prophet (saaw) that the Promised Messiah will have following characteristics:

Mirza Ghulam's Opinion about above Hadiths:

Mirza's Opinion regarding Swearing by The Holy Prophet (saaw):

"Vowing (swearing) is a proof that the news is related to the apparent (literal) meaning. There is neither any metaphorical meaning in it nor any exceptions to it." (Hamamatul Bushra, Roohani Khazain vol 7 p.14)

3. Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani - The Promised Messiah or The Promised Anti Messiah?

Dear Reader
Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadaini, the founder of Ahmadiyya Movement, claimed that he is Maseel Maseeh (Replica of Jesus), that he is the Promised Messiah and that he is in fact Eisa ibne Maryam. Following are some of the quotations from his various books. There are lot of contradictions in various writings, but then I have just quoted what I read there.

"God has revealed to me in his special inspiration that Maseeh ibne Maryam is dead." (Tauzeeh-e-Maram, Roohani Khazain vol 3 p.402)

"I have been informed about the grave of Eisa (in Kashmir). And I have been informed by Holy Quran and God's Revelation to me about the Death of Jesus." (Roohani Khazain vol 18 p.358, 361)

Hakeem Nooruddin's suggestion to Mirza Ghulam:

"Whatever you have written that if I leave aside the Hadith of Damascus (about the coming of Messiah) and put forth the claim of Maseel Maseeh, then what is the harm in it? I do not want to become Maseel Maseeh...." (Maktoobate Ahmadiyya vol 5 No. 2 p.85)

Mirza's Evolution towards Messiahship:

"It has been revealed to me that this humble self in my Poverty and Humility and Reliance on God and Sacrifice and According to Signs and Radiances, is an copy of the first life of Maseeh; and this humble self's nature and the nature of Maseeh resembles each other so much as if two pieces of the same atom or two seeds of the same tree." (Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya Part 3, Roohani Khazain vol 1 p. 593)

"I do not claim that I am Jesus son of Mary and I do not believe in transmigration of soul. I only claim that I am Maseel Maseeh.... My spiritual state resembles the spiritual state of Maseeh ibne Maryam." (Advertisement by Mirza Ghulam vol 1 p.23 dated )
"I have claimed to be Maseel Maseeh, which stupid people thinks that it is Promised Messiah ..... I have never claimed to be the Messiah ibne Maryam. Anyone who accuses me of it, he is absolutely a liar and fabricator. I have been constantly announcing for the last eight years that i am Maseel Maseeh, that is, Hazrat Eisa AS's certain spiritual properties and nature and habits and virtues has been given to me as well by God AlMighty." (Izala-e-Auham, Roohani Khazain vol 3 p.192)

"I proclaim that I am the Promised about whom every God's book has prophecised that he will appear in the Last Days." (Tohfa-e-Golravia, Roohani Khazain vol 17 p.295)

"I swear upon that God, who has sent me and fabricating on Him is the work of accursed one, He has sent me as Promised Massiah." (Majmoo'a-e-Ishtiharaat vol 3 p.435)

From Mirza ibne Chiragh Bibi to Eisa ibne Maryam:

"God named me Maryam in the third part of Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya. Then as evident by Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya, for two years I grew as Maryam; then like Maryam the soul of Jesus was breathed into me and I was made pregnant, metaphorically, and after many months, which were not more than 10 months, through inspiration, I was converted into Jesus. Thus, like this I bacame Eisa ibne Maryam." (Kishtee-e-Nooh, Roohani Khazain vol 19 p. 87-89)

Was he 2 in 1 or a Mental Case?

Mirza attempts to clear the hurdles:

Despit the fact that Mirza Ghulam had stated that swearing is an indication to take the literal meanings and specifically denied any symbolism or exception to this rule, he made every effort to fit the traditions of Holy Prophet (pbuh) by distorting and interpolating his own words and trying to find metaphorical meanings where none is meant.

"the word Damascus is just a symbolical word.... God has revealed to me that in this (Hadith), such a village has been named Damascus where people have the nature of Yazid Paleed.... this village (Qadian) resembles Damascus. Therefore God descended me in this Damascus for a big task." (Izala-e-Auham, Roohani Khazain vol 3 p.136-138)

"Our village of Qadian and this our mosque near which Minaret will be constructed, is situated to the east of Damascus." (Advertisement for donation for Minaretul Maseeh dated 28th May 1900, Majmooa Ishtiharat vol 3 p.286)
"...This Minaret is that minaret whose need has been accepted in Holy Prophet's Hadiths. And the expenditure on this Minarat-ul-Maseeh will not be less than Rs 10,000/=." (Majmooa Ishtiharat vol 3 pp. 294, 295)

"See! My illness had also been foretold by The Holy Prophet saaw, which fulfilled as he said. He had said that when Maseeh will descend from Heavens he will be clad in two yellow sheets. Thus I am afflicted with two illness, one affecting the upper torso which is Miraaq (a type of Malencholia), and the other of lower torso which is Excessive Urination." (Statement of Mirza Ghulam, AlBadr Newspaper dated 7th June 1902)

"It is possible and quite possible that at some time in future such Messiah may appear upon whom the apparent words of Hadith (of Holy Prophet) fit, because this humble self has not come with the Reign and Command of this world, but with poverty and humility." (Izala-e-Auham, Roohani Khazain vol 3 p.197)

"It is possible that in future no Messiah may come. It is possible 10,000 more Messiah may come and one of them may descend in Damascus." (Izala-e-Auham, Roohani Khazain vol 3 p.251)
"Intelligent and honest person's writings never contains contradictions. If someone is mentally sick or insane or such a hypocrite that he is always flattering by his yesmanship, his writings will no doubt become contradictory." (Mirza Ghulam in Sat Bachan, Roohani Khazain vol 10 p.142)

4.
Mirza Blasphemes Hazrat Eisa Ibne Maryam
MAY ALLAH FORGIVE ME FOR QUOTING THESE PROFANITIES AND THE READER FOR READING THEM. Ameen

Once Mirza Ghulam Ahmad had laid the claim that he is Maseel Maseeh and the Promised Messiah, people started comparing him with Jesus and started demanding the miracles, like Jesus, to substantiate his claims. This was the beginning of a new phase in the life of Mirza. Until now he was full of praise for Jesus Christ, but when he could not perform any miracles and could not exhibit the same piety, he vicious pen, which until now had been attacking his opponents, turned against Jesus Christ, the Prophet of Allah. He spared no words to belittle his character and miracles.

Mirza Ghulam's slanderous writings (against the Holy men of other faiths) thus stimulated them to blaspheme the Holy Prophet of Islam. On the pretext of answering them in the same coin, he continued his malicious and venomous campaign against Jesus and others. It is for the reader to decide how far he had gone.

Jesus' Character Belittled by Mirza

"(Jesus) had the habit of uttering obscenities and frequently using foul language." (Zamima Anjam-e-Atham, Roohani Khazain , Vol 11 p.289 )
"It should be remembered that he (Jesus) had also to some extent the habit of lying." (Zamima Anjam Atham, Roohani Khazain Vol 11 p. 289)
"A cunning and wicked (person) who had the soul of the Messiah from head to toe." (Zamimah Anjam Atham, Roohani Khazain Vol 11 p. 289 )

In the following remarks, Mirza slandered those who believed in Jesus by deviously thrusting the blame of his obscene insults on Christians:

"What is your opinion about the character of the Messiah? (it is that Jesus ) was an Alcoholic and Gluttonous person, neither Abstinent nor a Pious Worshipper, nor a Truth seeker. He was a Proud and a Self- conceited Claimant of Divinity." (Nur-ul-Quran, Roohani Khazain Vol 9 p.387)
"The root cause of all the damage that alcohol consumption has had on the Europeans was that Jesus used to drink alcohol, perhaps because of some disease or an old habit." (Kashti-e-Nooh, Roohani Khazain vol 19 p.71)

Mirza would often engage in self-admiration. For example, while expressing his own reliance on God for the cure of his ailments, he did not waste this opportunity to criticize Jesus. The following remark of Mirza is a testimony of his evil objectives:

"Once a friend advised me that opium is good for diabetes so there is no harm in taking opium for the purpose of treatment. I replied , thank you very much for your sympathetic advice. But if I get into the habit taking opium I am afraid the people will mock that the first Messiah (Jesus) was an alcoholic and the second a drug addict." (Kashti-e-Nooh, Roohani Khazain vol 19 p.434)

It is well known that the messengers of God have often been accused, defamed and rejected. Mirza never missed an opportunity of capitalizing on such vile accusations to prove that Jesus was worthless. He singled out Jesus for mudslinging because Mirza viewed Jesus as the one competing with him for Messiahship. One can witness his irrational and desperate attempts to improve his own public image by digging out slanderous remarks about Jesus. Mirza would then dwell on these remarks to eventually draw the most negative conclusions. The following demonstrates how Mirza literally seconded the false accusation about Jesus.

"(while on the cross) Jesus could not portray himself as pious man because people knew he was gluttonous alcoholic and these bad habits were not ever since claiming divinity but it seems from early age he had (these habits). Therefore to claim divinity is one of the bad after effects of alcoholism." (Satt bachan, Roohani Khazain vol 10 p 296)

In the next accusations Mirza's filthy and vile imagination had really run amok. These atrocious and blasphemous remarks clearly demonstrate Mirza's shameful distortion of the Biblical episodes as a way to deride our beloved Jesus:

"Jesus had an inclination for prostitutes, perhaps due to his ancestral relationship with them, otherwise no pious man could allow a young prostitute to touch his head with her filthy hands, and massage his head with the unclean perfume purchased with the earnings of adultery and rub his feet with her hair. Let the intelligent judge what sort of character such a person must possess." (Zamimah Anjam Atham, Roohani Khazain Vol 11 p.291)

"A beautiful prostitute is sitting so close to him as though she is embracing him. Sometimes she massages his head with perfume or holds his feet, and sometimes she lays her beautiful black hair on his feet and plays in his lap. In this situation Mr. Messiah is sitting in ecstasy. If someone rises to object he is scolded. Besides his young age, the habit of alcoholism and being a bachelor, a beautiful prostitute is lying in front of him touching her body with his. Is this the behavior of a virtuous person? And what evidence or proof is there that Jesus did not get sexually aroused by the touch of the prostitute? Alas! Jesus could not even have the facility of sexual intercourse with a wife of his own after passing his glance upon that adulteress. What sexual excitement would have been provoked by the touching of that wretched adulteress and her playfulness! The sexual excitement and arousal would have done its work to the extreme. This is the reason why Jesus could not even open his mouth to say, 'Oh adulteress! Keep away from me'. It is well established in the Bible that that woman was one of the prostitutes, notorious for adultery in the entire city". (Nur-ul-Quran, Roohani Khazain vol 9 p.449)

Thus Mirza has exposed his true nature. These disgusting statements are not the true account of what is written in Bible. The actual episode in the New Testament can be found on Luke 7:36-50, John 12:3-8 and Matthew 26:6-13. Reader will discover that Bible in no way portray the picture which Mirza Ghulam's wicked and sick imagination had painted.

Jesus' Teachings Disparaged

Following are the views of Mirza Ghulam about the teachings of Hazrat Eisa (Jesus Christ) AS:

"(Jesus, The Messiah ) came to a particular nation and Alas! the world did not get any spiritual benefit from him. He left an example of such a prophethood whose harm proved to be greater than its good. Sufferings and Conflicts increased due to his coming." (Ittmam-al-Hujjat, Roohani Khazain vol 8, p.308)
"It is extremely shameful that Sermon of the Mount, that forms the core of the New Testament was plagiarized by (Jesus, the Messiah) from the Jewish book, The Talmud, and then he pretended as if it were his own teachings. But since the time this plagiarism has been discovered, the Christians have been suffering a great shame. Jesus committed this act (of forgery) to perhaps gain influence by presenting some good teachings....The unfortunate thing is that these teachings are an affront to the rules of wisdom and upright conscience." (Zamima Anjam-e-Atham, Roohani Khazain vol 11 p.290)
"It is surprising that Jesus, peace be upon him, did not himself act upon the teachings of good character." (Chashma-e-Masihi, Roohni Khazain vol 20 p.346)
"The teachings of Jesus ruined the whole of Europe due to unrestrained permission of liberty and unconditional (licentiousness). So much so that this (looseness) resulted in all (being involved ) in adultery and fornication like pigs and dogs. And (this) immorality has spread to such an extent that it is even written on the wrappers of foreign (European) sweets and candies: 'Kiss me, O my sweetheart'. Now, who is responsible for these sins? The burden of these sins is undoubtedly on Jesus." (Nur-ul- Quran, Roohani Khazain vol 9 p.416)
"Although the Messiah (Jesus) kept healing physical ailments by this practice (of mesmerism), in terms of instilling firm belief and guidance in the hearts regarding the Oneness of God and in establishing religious steadfastness, his achivements were so poor that he was almost a failure." (Izala-e-Auham, Roohani Khazain vol 3 p.258)

Mirza's following remark not only belittles Jesus' teachings, but it also refutes the established religious beliefs that Jesus is alive and is destined to return to earth.

"It is unjustly said about the person (Jesus) who is buried in the locality of Khanyar, Srinagar, Kashmir, that he is sitting in the Heavens. Alas! How great an injustice! God, in keeping to his promises, has the power over everything. But He can never send a person to this world the second time whose first coming caused so much harm that it ruined the world." (Dafi-al-Bala, Roohani Khazain vol 18 p.235)
"Don't you know that Manliness and Virility are praiseworthy attributes of men. Being impotent is not a commendable quality just as being deaf and dumb are not commendable. Yes, this objection is indeed very great, that the Messiah being completely deprived of the greatest of the masculine qualities (viz. virility) could not leave a practical example of a perfect and upright social life with his wives. Therefore, the European women took advantage of the extremely shameful laxity and crossed the limits of moderation, whose consequences were the unspeakable acts, fornication and adultery." (Nur-ul-Quran, Roohani Khazain, vol 9 pp. 392, 393)

It is worth noting that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani himself suffered from IMPOTENCE, which he admitted in several of his writings and letters to Hakeem Nuruddin. Upon divine instructions, he prepared a special concoction of various herbs, a major component of which was OPIUM. The name of this medicine was Tiryaq-e-Ilahi (Divine Potion). Not only Mirza Ghulam but other members of his family and followers also used it. (See Maktoobat-e-Ahmadiyya vol 5 No 2 & 4; Tiryaq-ul-Quloob, Roohani Khazain, vol 15 p.203; Statement of Mirza Mehmood son of Mirza Ghulam, AlFazl Newspaper, Qadian, vol. 17 No. 6 dated 19th July 1929)

Such are examples of Mirza's heartbreaking and insulting statements, in which he shamelessly slandered, desecrated, accused and defamed Hazrat Eisa ibne Maryam (Jesus Christ), the Messiah. Because of sheer antagonism, Mirza Qadiani harboured extreme malice against Jesus. Therefore he went as far as accusing him of being an alcoholic, an impotent. Accusing Jesus of promiscuity is most absurd and sacrilegious and reminiscent of similar incidents in the past when Prophets were accused of adultery by disbelievers.

Jesus' Miracles Denied

Performing miracles was a very big obstacle in the way of Mirza to substantiate his claim of being the Promised Messiah. Miracles were of course not in his power, so he tried to cover his inability by ridiculing and denying the miracles performed by Jesus.

"The Christians have written about many miracles of (Jesus) but the fact is that he did not perform any miracle." (Zamima Anjam-e-Atham, Roohani Khazain vol 11 p.290)
"It is no wonder that God AlMighty might have given Jesus some technical knowhow so that by pressing a trigger or by somehow blowing on it, the clay toy took flight like a bird, or if it didn't fly it might have walked. Because the Messiah, son of Mary had also been working as a carpenter with his father, Joseph, for twenty two years, and it is obvious that carpentry is a skill in which the faculty for inventing different sorts of machines and instruments is sharpened." (Izala-e-Auham, Roohani Khazain vol 3 p.254 )
"Besides this, it is also conceivable that such miracles might have taken place by the way of mesmerism, for play and entertainment, rather than as a reality because in mesmerism there are such marvels which come about by the expert practitioner, casting the heat of his own spirit on (lifeless things) to make them appear as living beings..... However, Jesus was inferior to (the Prophet ) Elisha (in acts of mesmerism) because even the corpse of Elisha performed the miracle of reviving the dead person whose bones it touched. But Jesus' dead body could not at all revive the thieves who were crucified along with Jesus despite their bodies being in contact with Jesus' body." (Izala-e-Auham, Roohani Khazain, vol 3 p.255)

It is clear that Mirza Ghulam regarded the great miracles of Jesus as being merely the acts of mesmerism. It should be pointed out that mesmerism is practiced by jugglers and magicians. Mirza Ghulam not only wanted to belittle the miracles but degrade the personality of Jesus by trying to prove that the achievements of Jesus were not extraordinary. Above quotation renders Jesus inferior to the Prophet Elisha, whereas in the following remarks Mirza did not loose the opportunity to profess his own superiority over Jesus.

"Let it be known that this practice (of mesmerism) is not as respectable as it is deemed by the public. If this humble one (Mirza) had not regarded this practice as hateful and detestable, I had strong hope from the Grace of God Almighty that this humble one (Mirza) would not have been inferior to the Messiah, son of Mary, in showing wonderful acts (of mesmerism)." (Izala-e-Auham, Roohani Khazain vol 3 p.257)
"The number of objections and doubts about the miracles and prophecies of the Messiah are so great that no other Prophet's miracles or prophecies have been doubted so much. Doesn't the story of the Pond belittle the Messiah's miracles?" (Izala-e-Auham, Roohani Khazain vol 3 p.106)

Mirza has taken the reference about the pool from what is regarded as a debatable verse of the Bible (John 5:3,4). These verses are not to be found in the ancient manuscripts such as Codex Vaticanux, Codex Sinaiticus, Codex Bezac, Codex Syriac and the Latin Vulgate. Therefore the modern versions such as the Revised Standard, New American Standard etc. have deleted these verses and put them in the footnotes.

However Mirza's remark is not tenable even in the light of the Biblical verses in question because the sick man described in the Bible had the infirmity for thirty eight years without getting cured. Jesus cured this lame person by his word of mouth and the man walked immediately. This is not isolated example of Jesus healing others without any physical means. For example, Lazarus was revived by Jesus without even touching his body or his grave. Mirza had the least concern about the actual details concerning the great miracles of Jesus. He was merely fishing for excuses and whenever he found any remote or vague episode he exploited it as a justification for making all sort of horrendous conclusions. The following will prove how Mirza draws evil conclusions to accuse Jesus of cunningness and deceit:

"Perhaps he (Jesus, the Messiah) may have healed some blind and cured some other ailments by ordinary means. Due to (Jesus') bad luck, during his time there was a pond which was a source of great miracles. It can be assumed that he also used (the miraculous) clay of the same pond. The complete reality of his miracles is exposed by this pond. And a categorical inference drawn from the existence of this pond is that if at all he performed any miracles, they were not his own but rather attributable to this pond and he had nothing to his credit except cunning and deceit." (Zamima Anjam-e-Atham, Roohani Khazain vol 11 p.291)
"The Messiah's miracles were worthless and insignificant due to the pond which was a source of wonders even before the Messiah's birth. All kinds of sick, the lepers and the crippled etc. used to be cured by one dip in this pond." (Izala-e-Auham, Roohani Khazain vol 3 p.263)
"It is also possible that the Messiah used to bring the clay of the pond which had the spiritual effect of the Holy Spirit. Anyhow this miracle (of creating birds and making them fly) was merely a kind of play." (Izala-e-Auham, Roohani Khazain vol 3 p.263)

Finally Mirza declared:

"The fact is that (Jesus) did not perform any miracle." (Zamima Anjam-e-Atham, Roohani Khazain vol 11 p.290)

From the above quotations it is clear that Mirza Qadiani had no regard for Jesus. While it was perfectly normal and acceptable to Mirza that the clay of the pool had miraculous powers, he raised a great hue and cry about the possibility of Jesus being gifted with the ability to perform miracles. Mirza then went on to deny and belittle Jesus' prophecies.

Jesus Accused of False Prophecies

When Mirza Ghulam, the Self Proclaimed Maseel Maseeh and Promised Messiah, consistently failed in getting his so-called divinely inspired prophecies, he scoffed at the prophecies of other Prophets. Not only Jesus Christ but he also blasphemed Holy Prophet Mohammed SAAW by saying that his prophecies also turned out to be false. This will be discussed, InshaAllah, in a separate article. For the present, reader is invited to discover what he has to say about the prophecies of Jesus. As before, Mirza has first thrusted the blame for his accusations on others and then regarded this as an unbridled licence allowing him to draw defamatory conclusions:

"Alas! to whom can we express our grief that three prophecies of the Messiah proved to be out rightly false!" (Ai'jaz-e-Ahmadi, Roohani Khazain vol 19, p.121)
"Doesn't the story of the pond dwindle the glamour of the Messiah's miracles? And the state of his prophecies is worse than that! What kind of prophecies are these that there will be earthquakes, lives will be destroyed, wars will be fought, famine will befall? And the thing that is more sorrowful than this is the fact that the number of the prophecies of Mr Messiah which did not come true is more than those which did." (Izala-e-Auham, Roohani Khazain vol 3 p.106)
"The prophecies of this helpless man (Jesus) were merely that there will be earthquakes, famines and wars.... Why did this Israelite term these common occurrences as prophecies?" (Zamima Anjam-e-Atham, Roohani Khazain vol 11 p.288)

It is worth noting that, while disparaging the prophecies of earthquakes or lives destroyed etc by Jesus, Mirza himself on several occasions prophesied the same events and considered them to be the proof of his truthfulness and and claims to prophethood. Mirza Ghulam did not rely on the ridiculing the miracles and prophecies alone. He utilised every opportunity to downgrade Jesus. See the following quotation:

"Jesus, peace be upon him, repented for his sins at the hands of John the Baptist and became one of his select disciples. This decides the excellence of John the Baptist over Jesus because it is not proven that John the Baptist ever repented at the hands of anyone." (Dafi'-al-Bala, Roohani Khazain vol 18 p.220)

Mirza Claims Excellence over Jesus

Mirza's objective in belittling Jesus was simply to declare his own excellence over Jesus. After having disgraced Jesus in the most despicable manner, Mirza declared:

"God sent the Promised Messiah (Mirza) amongst this community who is better in all his glory than first Messiah (Jesus)." (Dafi-al-Bala, Roohani Khazain vol 18 p.233)
"Unto this nation God sent His Promised Messiah (Mirza), who is better than the first Messiah in all his glory .....I swear by God, in whose hands my soul is, that if the Messiah, the son of Mary, were my contemporary, he could not have done the works that I can do, and the signs (miracles) which I am bringing about he could never performed." (Haqeeqat-ul-Wahi Roohani Khazain vol 22 p.152)
"After all when God and His apostle and all the Prophets have declared the supremacy of the second Messiah (Mirza) of this last period, because of his great achievements, then it is a devilish temptation to say, 'Why do you proclaim yourself superior to the first Messiah, the son of Mary." (Haqeeqat-ul-Wahi, Roohani Khazain vol 22 p.159)
"Stop speaking about the Son of Mary, (for) superior to him is Ghulam Ahmad." (Dafi' al-Bala, Roohani Khazain vol 18 p.240)

5. Jesus' Mother and Family Insulted

Mirza had not even spared Hazrat Bibi Maryam (Mary), the illustrious mother of Jesus, the witness of whose piety is Holy Quran, not even his grandmothers. Mirza launched these assaults sometimes under the pretense of argument and debate and sometimes as concluding remarks after commenting on Biblical issues.

Mirza adopted the most vulgar and disgusting style of discourse. He justified this meanness by making the accusation that Jesus also had a very abusive manner of speech. Mirza thus departed from the clean and polite manners of communication taught in Divine Revelations. Following are the heartbreaking and disgraceful remarks Mirza made about Jesus' family:

"The family of Jesus was perfectly holy and immaculate. Jesus' three paternal and maternal grandmothers were fornicators and prostitutes, from whose blood the body of Jesus came into existence." (Zamima Anjam-e-Atham, Roohani Khazain vol 11 p.291)

It should be remembered that Jesus did not have a parental genealogy like other human beings. Thus the possibility of Jesus having paternal grandmothers does arise. By saying that Jesus had paternal grandmothers Mirza is implying that Joseph was the biological father of Jesus, hence this assertion of Mirza is tantamount to a denial of the virgin birth as will also be demonstrated later in other references.

"You may have tried to find a solution to the objection (raised) about the Messiah's paternal and maternal grandmothers. I am tired of thinking (of a justification of this). Up to now no nice solution has occurred to do me. What a glorious god he is whose paternal and maternal grandmothers are of such repute!" (Nur-al-Quran, Roohani Khazain, vol 9 p.394)

Hazrat Bibi Maryam's Pregancy Before Marriage

To disgrace Pious and Virgin Mary, Mirza writes:

"And Mary's eminence is such that she put off her marriage for a long time, but then at the insistent pressure of the leaders of the community, due to pregnancy, she married. However people raised objections about how she could get married while pregnant, (such marriages) being against the teachings of the Torah. And people also question, why (Mary) breached the oath of celibacy. People also argue about why the foundations of polygamy were laid (by this marriage). In other words, why did Mary agree to marry Joseph, the Carpenter, despite his already having a wife. But I (Mirza) would say that all these were compelling circumstances. In this situation they were to be pitied rather than considering their actions as objectionable." (Kashti-e-Nooh, Roohani Khazain vol 19 p.18)

While coining another far-fetched theory about the Afghans being in fact Israelites, Mirza cunningly blended in the following such remarks that evidently disgraces Mary due to its obvious implications. Mirza's devious grafting of Biblical issues to his vague theories and his subsequent concluding remarks and inferences give rise to a heinous portrait of Jesus and his illustrious mother. Mirza writes that:

"Mary's going out with her fiancé, Joseph, before wedlock is a strong proof of this Israelite custom. Going out with fiancé amongst the noble ones in some Frontier Tribes has exceeded the limits to such an extent that sometimes pregnancy results before wedlock but is not looked down upon." (Ayyam-us-Sulh, Roohani Khazain vol 14 p.300)

In order to prove that Mary was unchaste and breached her covenant to remain to a celibate, Mirza attributed six children to Mary:

"Jesus, the Messiah, had four brothers and two sisters; all of them were his real brothers and real sisters, I mean that they were the offsprings of Joseph and Mary." (Kashti-e-Nuh, Roohani Khazain vol 19 p.18)

6. Mirza's Final Assault on Hazrat Eisa (pbuh) - Jesus was Insane!!

"The meaning of devil being with someone is that he suffers from Epilepsy. Therefore this is a very subtle point and very clear and wise opinion that Jesus was actually afflicted with Epilepsy and that is why he used to dream ..... once his four real (biological) brothers requested the authorities that this man is insane, something should be done about him so that he can be treated accordingly. Thus this request is a clear proof that Jesus had actually become insane due to epilepsy." (Satt Bachan, Roohani Khazain vol 10 p.295, footnote)

Jesus Despised

Blaming Jesus Christ for the evils that is plaguing the west, he announced:

"I wish such a person (Jesus) had not come in this world." (Nur-ul-Quran, Roohani Khazain vol9 p.417)

Mirza's Tall Claims

"God is the one Who has sent his Messenger, this humble one (Mirza), with Guidance and True Religion and Civility (and) Good Conduct." (Arba'een No 3 Roohani Khazain vol 17 p.426)
"It is against my nature to utter a harsh word from my mouth." (Asmaani Faisla, Roohani Khazain vol 4 p. 10)

Mirza Judges himself

AlHamdolillah, Allah made Mirza decide for himself to which category of people he belongs:

"To utter obscenities and to use abusive language is not a civilised way." (Arba'een No 4, Roohani Khazain vol 17 p.471)
"To utter obscenities is the way of devilish and vile persons." (Satt Bachan, Roohani Khazain vol 10 p.20)

7. Epilogue

Dear Reader
I have endeavoured to present all the above quotations from various books written by Mirza Ghulam, the founder of Ahmadiyya Movement. Hazrat Eisa (Jesus) and Bibi Maryam (Mary) are held in highest esteem by the Muslims and Christians and Quran bears the testimony to the Chastity of Bibi Maryam (as) and the Piety and Righteousness of Jesus Christ (as). But this so-called 'Divinely Ordained' Founder of the Ahmadiyya Religious community, who claims to be the Promised Messiah and Prophet, has used such base and vulgar language, that one wonders what kind of a man he was. He, who claims to have a nature which is exact replica of the first Messiah, yet portrays a very sinful, wicked and immoral picture of the same man.

  • Could it be that under the influence of Alcohol and Opium (which he admits using), Mirza Ghulam was describing his own qualities?

  • Could it be that he was jealous of Jesus and wanted to discredit him in order to justify his own short-comings so that public will ignore them?

  • Whatever the reasons, in his desperate attempt to downgrade Jesus Christ, he crossed all limits of decency. Such an attitude is quite unbecoming to the Head of a so-called religious community.

Unexplained Tolerant Attitude of the Church

What is more surprising and unclear is the attitude of the Church towards Mirza Ghulam and his Ahmadiyya Movement. Whereas Muslims have always taken a firm stand against these blasphemies, no protest, official or otherwise has ever been recorded, despite the fact that I personally brought all these blasphemous statements to the notice of Pope John Paul II and The Archbishop of Canterbury of Anglican Church, England. In fact one of them wrote to me saying that they are aware of the existence of Ahmadiyya Movement but their impact on Christianity is negligible. The issue of Mirza Ghulam's blasphemies against the Holy Jesus Christ was very conveniently evaded.  One wonders WHY? What is the connection?

Perhaps this report, which appeared in Al-Khaleej Newspaper dated 22nd Dec 1989 may be the missing link:

Big Sum to Spread Qadianism in Africa

"Some of the Christian Missionaries working in Ethiopia spent $35 millions to publish qadiani literature and distributed it freely in West African countries, like Ghana, Nigeria etc."

I leave readers with some food for thought.

Had it been the same Jesus son of Mary, the first Messaih, who is expected to come before the Doom's Day, as we Muslims (and indeed Christians also believe), there was nothing to worry about, since Quran bears testimony to his character.

BUT if Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani has assumed that title, as believed by qadianis/ahmadis, then we have to thoroughly investigate the character, personality, morality, life and death of this so-called Promised Messiah. And What can be a better source of this than an unbiased and honest analyses of his writings and his biography written by his son, Mirza Basheer Ahmad? Unfortunately, major portion of these writings are either in Urdu and only a small portion in Arabic and Persian. Recently, our request to translate them into English and print them was turned down by the Ahmadiyya Movement Headquarters in London.

May Allah Help Qadianis/ahmadis to find out the truth and give them the courage to follow it. Ameen.

Once again I seek forgiveness from Allah for quoting these blasphemies against Holy Prophet Eisa ibne Maryam (as).

    Wassalam
