DRUGS and AHMADIYYA MOVEMENT
by
Dr Syed Rashid Ali
Drug misuse and addiction has become a worldwide problem, more so in
recent years, particularly amongst the young people. It is blamed for much
of the crime and violence, has the potential for destroying the whole family
and is a cause of great concern for the authorities, social workers, police
as well as teachers and doctors. Opium and its biological and synthetic
derivatives and Cocaine are the most commonly misused substances.
Following statistics will shed some light on impact of drug on the community:
-
In Washington, DC, half of all of the black men in the city are currently
in jail or on parole. More than ninety percent have arrest records. The
same is true of inner city black men in Baltimore, New York, New Jersey,
and Florida.
-
Two-thirds of all of today's black male high school students will be dead,
disabled, or in prison before their thirtieth birthday. The majority will
go to prison because of non-violent drug charges. For every black man who
goes to college, three will go to prison.
-
By the year 2000, about half of all black men in America will have gone
to prison. Most of them will go to prison for non-violent drug charges.
Most of those who go to prison will be released into society again. Because
they are black men with a prison record, they will be permanently unemployable.

Clinton's Anti-Drug Strategy
Various Governments have made legislation to control the abuse, manufacture,
supply, possession, prescription and import/export of 'Controlled Drugs'.
President Bill Clinton, laying out his Anti-Drug Strategy has asked Cogress
to earmark $15.1 billion for drug prevention efforts in fiscal 1997. Retired
Army Gen. Barry McCaffrey, the national drug control policy director, says
there are about 11 million drug users in United States. "This is a decade-long
attempt to address a complex phenomena," he said on NBC News' "Meet the
Press." The new strategy focuses on youth drug prevention and education
as well as law enforcement and thwarting DRUG SMUGGLING, McCaffrey added.

Ahmadiyya Movement claims to be the Champions of Islam, portraying an
exemplary character of a good muslim. Founder of Ahmadiyya Movement, Mirza
Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani, claimed to be the PROPHET, MAHDI, PROMISED MESSIAH,
SON of GOD and GOD etc. etc. As such his life and character has a direct
bearing on the lives of all Ahmadis/Qadianis who consider him as their
SPIRITUAL GUIDE and Re-INCARNATION of HOLY PROPHET MUHAMMAD (pbuh).
In the following sections it will be my endeavour to examine the life
of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani with regard to the question of DRUG ABUSE
and illustrate some examples of QADIANI/AHMADI involvement in DRUG TRAFFICKING
during recent times.
Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani and OPIUM + TONIC WINE
"I remember an incident and which is that I have Diabetes for several
years. I urinate 15-20 times daily and sometimes I urinate 100, 100 times
per day. Due to sugar in urine, I also get infection in urine and due to
excessive urination I become very weak. Once a friend suggested that Opium
is beneficial in Diabetes, therefore there is no harm if I use it as medicine.
I answered: 'It is very nice of you to have sympathise with me but if I
form a habit of taking Opium than I am afraid that people will joke that
THE FIRST MESSIAH WAS AN ALCOHOLIC AND THE SECOND ONE AN OPIUM ADDICT.'"
Naseem Da'awat, Roohani Khazain vol.19 p.434-435, by Mirza
Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani.
"OPIUM is used so extensively used in medicines that Hazrat Maseeh
Mow'ood (Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani) used to say that in the eyes of some
Hakeems (Doctors) Opium is half the medicine. Thus to use Opium alongwith
other medicines as a medicament and not as an intoxicant is not in any
way objectionable. All of us have knowingly or unknowingly used Opium at
one time or another....
Hazrat Maseeh Mow'ood prepared a medicine 'TIRYAQ-e-ILAHI' under instructions
from God and its one of the main constituent was OPIUM and Huzoor (Mirza
Ghulam) gave this medicine, with a little more addition of Opium, to Hazrat
Khalifa Awwal (Hakeem Nuruddin, the 1st Successor of Mirza Ghulam) for
more than 6 months and off and on used himself as well during the attacks
of various illnesses."
Article of Mian Mahmood Ahmad Saheb, Khalifa Qadian, Akhbar
Al-Fazl vol.17 No.6 p.2 Dated 19th July 1929.
"When he (Mirza Ghulam) came for the first time to my press, he sat
on a pillowed seat and I sat on one seat and he discussed with me about
the book. Looking at his dozy eyes, I thought that perhaps he uses OPIUM,
as is coomonly the habit of rich people, but when I heard his talk or speech
and thought about the articles of Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya, I was amazed that
the condition of an Opium user is not like this, such man cannot write
like this. Then Hazrat Sahib went away..... Now I regretted my first mistake
and repented it and know very well that it is the INTOXICATION of DIVINE
KNOWLEDGE and not that of Opium as I first thought."
Statement of Qadiani Sahabi, Sheikh Noor Ahmad Saheb,
Owner of Riyaz Hind Press, Al-Fazl Newspaper, Qadian, vol.34, No.194, dated
20th August 1940.
"During my childhood, he (Mirza Ghulam) gave me OPIUM for sickness.
Gave it to me for six months continuously."
Statement of Mirza Basheeruddin Mahmood, Khalifa Qadian,
Minhaj-ul-Talibeen, p.74.
"Friday, 28th June, in the morning Hazrat Khalifatul Maseeh 2nd, May
God strengthen his hands, took me (Abdur Raheem Dard), Dr. Hashmarullah
Saheb and Mian Nasir Ahmad Saheb to visit Khwajah (Kamaluddin, a very close
associate of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani) Saheb (during his illness). Khwaja
Saheb started narrating his story, his illnesses and the treatments he
took, he mentioned everything. Khwaja Saheb is taking Opium as well these
days. He started with a small dose (nearly 1 mg). He intends to take it
for six more months so that his nerves will become strong."
Diary Mian Mahmood Ahmad Saheb, Khalifa Qadian, Story
of Abdur Raheem Dard Qadiani, Al-Fazl Newspaper, Qadian, vol.17, No.2,
dated 5th July 1929.
"My Beloved Hakeem Muhammad Hussein Saheb,
Assalamo alaikum wa Rehmatullah wa Barakatohu. Presently I am sending
Mian Yar Mohammad. Purchase yourself all the things that are to be purcahsed
and buy one bottle of TONIC WINE from the Plommer Shop. But I want TONIC
WINE, make a note of it. Rest is fine. Wassalam.

Letters of Imam towards Ghulam, p.5, Majmooa-e-Maktoobat
Mirza Ghulam Ahmad towards Hakeem Muhammad Hussain Qureishi Saheb Qadiani,
Owner of Rafeeq-us-Sehat Dispensary, Lahore.
"Thus under such circumstances if Hazrat Maseeh Mowood had used Barandi
or Rum himself during sickness or prescribed for his patients, then it
was not against the Islamic Law, let alone Tonic Wine, which is a medicine.
If he had bought it for some member of his family or friend who had recovered
from some long illness and is weak or even if he had asked for himself
and had used it, what was wrong in it? He used to suffer such severe attacks
of weakness that his hands and feet used to become cold and the pulse,
feeble. I have myself examined him in this state. Their used to be no sign
of pulse. If under such circumstances according to the instructions of
doctors, he had used Tonic Wine, then it was exactly according to Shariah
(Islamic Law). He used to spend whole day writing. Used to pray in the
night. He was getting old. Thus under such if had drunk Tonic Wine as medicine,
then what is the problem in it?"

1985: Big Cache of Drugs Seized in Rice Bags at Dubai Port
"It is learnt that attempts to smuggle Heroine under cover of Rice
has been made unsuccessful by the Authorities in Dubai and ONE TON of Heroine,
worth millions of dollars, were recovered from a Rice Container. According
to the details obtained, on 14th April a ship, Chitral, of Pakistan National
Shipping Corporation, loaded with Rice, reached Dubai from Karachi and
the heroine was recovered from one of its container. The consignment was
sent from Rice Export Corporation to a firm in Dubai."
Daily Jang, Karachi, 25th April 1985.
On 14th April 1984, a cargo ship of Pakistan National Shipping Corporation
arrived at Dubai Port from Karachi. It contained consignment of RICE. From
one of its containers, 1 TON HEROINE was recovered. This consignment of
rice was sent by the Rice Export Corporation of Pakistan to a company in
Dubai. There was clear proof that Qadianis were involved in this Drug Smuggling.
-
For 12 years Hamza bin Abdul Qadir Qadiani, was the General
Manager of Rice Export Corporation of Pakistan, thus being the direct Incharge
of that Section responsible for the Packing and Export of Rice.
-
S. K. Malik Qadiani, was the Incharge of Procurement Section of
Rice Export Corporation of Pakistan.
-
Abdul Ghani Qadiani, was the Head of the Finance Department of RECP.
Nothing could be done about these big fishes and as usual the small fishes
recieved the punishment.
-
"Four QADIANIS/AHMADIS from Rabwa were recently sentenced in Abu Dhabi
(United Arab Emirates) to three years rigorous imprisonment for SMUGGLING
and SELLING HEROINE in the country." (Daily Jang Newspaper, Quetta,
dated 27th May 1985)

1996: Drugs Siezed in Rice Bags bound for Birmingham, UK.
MARIJUANA BUSINESS UNDER THE COVER OF FOREIGN MINISTER
Marijuana discovered in the Rice Packets due to be exported
to Britain by the company owned by the Brother of Sardar Aseef Ahmad Ali
On 25th April 1996 the Examining Officer of the Customs Dept., Export
Section was performing his usual duty at Birth No. TR-5, Karachi East Wharf,
Kemari. During his duty Export Papers for Container No. FLXU-9-201323 came
to him with Shipping Bill No. 22796 dated 23rd April '96. According to
the papers, the container was full of 950 packets of Basmati Rice being
sent ot Mr Wippolyte of Ebony Food International, 55 Diagonal Road, Acocks
Green, Birmingham B27 6ST UK.
During examination, while poking at one of the bags deep down in the
end, the packet rupture and the Examining Officer could not believe his
eyes when he saw slices of Marijuana started falling out. A total of 119
Kg of Marijuana was packed very systematically amongst the packets of Rice
so that after every 150 packets of rice there was a 1 kilogram packet of
Marijuana. The Packets were sprayed with Anti-Sniffing Spray to prevent
Customs trained Sniffer Dogs from detecting them. The markings on the rice
packets and marijuana packets belonged to the identical serail numbers
indicating that the Smuggling Party from Lahore to Birmingham was the same
and was capable of seperating them at their leisure without fear of being
caught.
The Commerce Reporter of Urdu Daily 'Nawa-e-Waqt' reached on the spot
and took photographs of the whole consignment. According to his report
which he filed to his Newspaper's office, 210 kilograms of Marijuana was
recovered from these Rice Packets by the Assistant Collector of Customs.
Customs arrested three persons including the clearing and forwarding agent.
The Clearing Agent informed the authorities that the Sealed Container came
from the Indus Rice Mill which belongs to Sardar Haroon Ahmad, brother
of a Federal Minister and that he has nothing to do with the Drug Smuggling
and should be released on bail. He was however denied bail. On the other
hand, severe pressure is being applied on the Customs to hush the matter.
This report was correct in every respect except that on the first day
Custom Authorities declared that the weight of Marijuana was 210 kg, but
next day when F.I.R. was recorded, the figure was 119 kg. According to
reports, as soon as Marijuana was hauled, Custom Appraisers informed their
higher authorities. On the other hand, the other party was also not some
small group. It was the Rice Mill of the brother of Sardar Aseef Ahmad
Ali, the Foreign Minister and an important member of the Chatta-Peoples
Party PDF allaince of the ruling elite in Pakistan. Thus the offices of
Indus Rice Mill closed and its Executives disappeared. For the next four
days there was no trace of any of the responsible person of Indus Rice
Mill. During this period Sardar Haroon Ahmad and his brother, Sardar Aseef
Ahmad, the Foreign Minister used all their influence in the government
to keep them from being arrested or any other official paper work to be
completed against them. Rather they tried to distort the whole issue by
using their influence and these attempts are still going on.
Sardar Aseef Ahmad and his 'Superior' friends were so determined to
sway the Customs Authorities that their agents kept trying till late to
prevent Daily Nawa-e-Waqt from publishing this story next day. Despite
their lucrative offers, the whole incident was reported in the newspaper
on 26th April.
In anticipation of the the disgrace and embarassment that comes in the
wake of such a crime, the whole machinery of the People's Government and
its heirarchy in Islamabad came into action. Initially the entire blame
was put on the poor clearing agent, who was arrested. However, as soon
as his company learnt of the incident, they took necessary action and got
him released.
After the failure of this attempt, the case was transfered to Federal
Investigation Authority and the blame was shifted on to the TCS Courier
Service who transfered the container from Lahore to Karachi. Its Regional
Manager, Shafqat Ali was arrested on the charges that his agency has put
Marijuana during the transfer of the container from Lahore to Karachi.
The news was released to the press that Custom Authorities have started
investigating the involvement of a courier service in drug smuggling. Point
worth noting was that in the F.I.R. the name of the Exporter, Indus Valley
Rice Mill, was totally absent, according to the wishes of higher authorities.
F.I.A. pointed out his flaw in the filed FIR on which basis the court might
doubt the intentions of the authorities. The poor representative of the
courier service was thus released.
Thus the Customs Authorities were pressurised into filing an FIR on
afternoon of 26th April in which in place of first accused, without writing
the name and address of any one, simply 'An Employee of the Exporter' was
mentioned. In other words in blatant disregard to the Law and Justice,
instead of writing the name of the real culprit and the owners of Export
Company, it was decided to make a scapegoat of one of the employees. In
the second place was the name of Mr Shafqat Ali of courier service, in
the third place Mr W Hippolyte and in the last place, 'AND OTHERS'.
The effeciency and honesty of the FIA, Karachi was not to the liked
in Islamabad and the case was transfered to FIA, Lahore; when their working
was also not found to be according to the entire satisfaction of the elite
concerned, the case was transferred to the Special Investigation Unit under
the direct care of Director General, FIA, Islamabad. Now the whole game
will be played in Islamabad in the presence of its influential players.
It is interesting to note that the majority of the employees of Indus Valley
Rice Mill are the relatives of the Honourable Foreign Minister. Another
interesting discovery made by FIA Lahore was that the same kind of rice
bags with Marijuana packed in the same professional manner were seized
from the Rice Mill in Lahore
Pir Binyameen's Press Conference:
A week long Eid-ul-Azha holidays gave some reprieve to the players.
On 4th May Mr Pir Binyameen Rizvi, the Secretary Information of Muslim
League held a press conference in Lahore and accused Honourable Foreign
Minister, Sardar Aseef Ahmad Ali of Drug Smuggling. He accused the Government
of trying to cover-up the whole incident. Expressing his dissatisfaction
with the Government's performance he has appealed Gen Jehangir Karamat
Qadiani to investigate whole through Army Intelligence and to refer the
case to the Supreme Court. He said that that Sardar Aseef Ahmad is the
owner of the firm, Indus Valley Rice Mill, who has its office in Chak Malik
on the Raiwind Road. Its Chief Executive is his brother, Sardar Haroon
Ahmad. He accused Asif Ali Zardari, the husband of Prime Minister Bezameer
Bhutto, of ordering the authorities to destroy the Marijuana and to hush
up the whole issue, in addition to others.
Pir Benyameen stated that May God protect that country whose Foreign
Minister becomes the member of Drug Mafia. He accused that Sardar Aseef
is the Head of a Drug Mafia with network in Europe and America. Sardar
Aseef Ahmad was previously terminated from the Nawaz Shareef Cabinet for
handing over certain secrets to the Indian Government and a case of was
being prepared against when Nawaz Shareef's Government was terminated.
He added that nothing can be expected from Benazir's Government in this
regard because a Prime Minister who can get a Drug Smuggler, one of her
party's MP, Munawwer Manoj, released from custody, despite his involved
in Drug Smuggling and arrested by the Narcotics Control Board and then
make the same person Head of the Narcotics Control Board. Pir BinYameen
has requested the Interior Minister to get the whole matter investigated
by some responsible Authority.
Sardar Aseef's/Haroon's Statement:
FIA Lahore issued a statement clarifying the positions of the owners
of Rice Mill. It is said that Sardar Haroon Ahmad has reported to the some
smugglers are trying to smuggle Marijuana in the Rice purchased from his
rice mill. He requested Interior Minister to investigate the matter.
Mr Gohar Ayub Khan:
The Deputy Opposition Leader issued a statement on 6th May. In it he
says that the way Sardar Aseef Ahmad Ali's iinocence is being tried to
prove, makes the whole affair very suspicious. It is a very serious accusation
against Sardar Aseef and unless the Court does not hear the whole story
and officially absolve him from this accusation, he will remain an accused
in the eyes of Nation and Law. He advised that he should respect the sensitivity
and importance of his Post and if he doesn't have the moral courage to
resign from his post, at least he should go on leave till such time that
the Court gives its judgement. No Foreign Minister of any sovereign country
would like to hold talks with an accused Foreign Minister of our country
and if he insists on sticking to his post then he would not be able to
play any role in the interest of his country, rather he would just be a
source of embarassment to to the entire Nation and his Ministry.
Takbeer, International Urdu Weekly, No. 20 dated 16th May, 1996; Nasir
Mahmood.
[PS: It is worth noting that after the first few reports
there has been a complete blackout on the news about this incident.]
The Qadiani Connection:
Mr Manzoor Ilahi Malik Awan of the Weekly Khatme Nabuwwat Newspaper has
repoted that both Mr Sardar Aseef Ahmad and Mr Naseerullah Baber, the Interior
Minister, of Pakistan are AHMADIs/QADIANIs. Another unpublished survey
suggests that out of all three top posts in Civil, Foreign and Military
Services of Pakistan, two are occupied by Qadianis/Ahmadis/Lahoris. Pakistan
is one of the important conduit for smuggling drugs to the West. With such
influential QADIANIS/AHMADIS and their sympethisers at the helm of the
affairs in Pakistan, this case probably reflects just the tip of the iceberg.
Epilogue
Since 1980s there has been a mass exodus of members of the Ahmadiyya Movement
to various European and American destinations. Because of the Qadiani/Ahmadiyya
propaganda of so-called 'Persecution of Ahmadis in Pakistan', Western Governments
are liberally offering them asylum on humanitarian grounds. It is an interesting
coincidence that the flow of Drugs from East to the West has also increased
dramatically during the same period.
Ahmadiyya Movement is spending hugh amount of money on the propagation
of its false doctrines in the name of Islam. Some of its projects are:
-
Printing and distributing Holy Quran in 140 languages;
-
Printing weekly/monthly periodicals in 120 languages;
-
Printing other propaganda literature in >100 languages;
-
Daily for upto 24 hours World Wide Broadcasting of Muslim Television Ahmadiyya
in several languages;
-
Daily Radio Broadcasts in Urdu, Russian, English and Bangla;
-
Setting up of Mission houses in All Major Cities in upto 120 countries;
-
Setting up of Hospitals/Clinics, Community Centers, Schools etc. in several
countries.
Ordinary Qadianis/Ahmadis are led to believe that it is the contribution
from their hard earned money which is running these projects. They deny
vehemantly that the Un-Islamic Forces are contributing towards the efforts
of Ahmadiyyat.
It is a well-known fact that several people take to Drug Smuggling just
to make rapid money and become millionaire overnight. With every case that
is brought to light, there are several more which are never caught. We
request the Anti-Drug Authorities in Europe, United States and other parts
of the world to re-examine the entire racket in the light of above information
and try to find a connection between Drug Smuggling and Large Scale immigration
of Qadianis/Ahmadis to Western countries.
